How do I import video files from my Canon HF10 into iMovie HD 6? - imovie hd 6 plug-in slick cf/x

I have iMovie 6.0.3 and I'm in a 12-inch PowerBook G4, OS X 10.4.11. I bought the Canon HF10 camcorder, and can not import video files into iMovie. I've heard that some people can do, and others do not, but I never got a clear answer-up. I just want to know what happened.

I connected the camera and have two (one for the HDD, one for the memory card) on the desktop, but iMovie does not recognize that a device is connected and gives me the possibility to import files. When you extract the two drives on my desk, I see nothing remotely resembling a video file.

A little help would be really grateful. Thank you!
